Instrument for measuring soil moisture (or dryness) in pots.
Measures soil moisture as an aide for making dependable watering decisions, especially for larger planting tubs as well as individual plants in the ground, for instance, in a winter garden or green house.
The assessment of soil moisture is difficult in particular with big plant containers and plants growing in ground. For example the surface might appear dry whereas the soil around the roots are still sufficiently moist. Unregular watering or watering after plants got wilted constitutes stress for the plant and affects the plants growth.
Blumat DIGITAL measures and displays the necessary power for the plants roots to gain water out of soil. The power (measured as negative pressure in the tube) is a scale for humidity:high value = dry, low value = wet. The scale range is from 10 to 750 mbar. Usual values for plant soil are 100 to 300 mbar. Unlike other moisture meters Blumat DIGITAL is independent from the soils electrical conductivity. It can reliably measure moisture in all soils, peat soil, and clay granules.
